Question about Scans

I don't know if this is possible as I don't know how secure the file system is on the PC but seems to me that if it is robust enough that a file can not be changed without it marking the file as changed that then when a first full scan is done that you could have a database or something that notes that the file was scanned and then it wouldn't need scanned again until it changed or new ones added.  Seems this would really speed up the full system scans so that you could run it more often.
