Problems with Total Protection 2012 settings

Hello! I am from Russia! I am sorry for the poor knowledge of English.
I really like the product of McAfee Total Protection 2012, but I have difficulties in using it.
So, it does not allow me to visit some of the sites. Also does not give the opportunity to work with some files, taking it for viruses.
I would like to find a common language with it. For this I need clear guidance on setting up the product, so I could avoid these and other problems in future.

I really hope for your help to find such documentation.

Re: Problems with Total Protection 2012 settings

SiteAdvisor mey be warning you about certain websites but you can override it if you wish.

Regarding the antivirus labelling some software as bad you should read here:  https://community.mcafee.com/thread/2016

Unfortunatel there is no way of telling the software to ignore something.

Ex_Brit, thanks a lot!
Sorry for my obsession.
Obviously, to solute various problems it requires different actions. This all is very difficult to learn.
Is there a possibility to temporarily completely disable the product as it is sold in similar products from other developers?

Which part of it do you wish to disable?

Re: Problems with Total Protection 2012 settings

Of course, if I knew what part of the product is responsible for various activities, I would search the answer to the question how to turn off this part.

But, if there is trouble, I do not know it, but I know only that some restrictions introduced Total Protection.

For example, at the time when I used Avast, I could call from the tray context menu and select "stop on-acess protection". After that, I could  do whatever I want and do not worry about interference Avast.

Is there such feature in McAfee Total Protection 2012?

Re: Problems with Total Protection 2012 settings

You can disable real-time protection (VirusScan) but there really should not be any need to do so because it would leave you open to infection.

Open SecurityCenter by double-clicking the taskbar icon

Click Virus and Spyware Protection

Click Real-Time Scanning

Turn it off there and tell it for how long.

You can do the same with the Firewall, but again it should never be necessary to do so by, clickng the Web and Email Protection.

Re: Problems with Total Protection 2012 settings

Thank you so much for your help!

I understand that when I cut off some part of the product, I am responsible for data safety.

Previously I did actions you are talking about concerning SecurityCenter. But I was disappointed!
Indeed, if I disable SecurityCenter, the file that is necessary for me to work was not removed immediately by extracting it from the archive. But, before I start to work with it as it disappeared from my hands! (((
Obviously, turning off this part is not enough to solve my problem. (

Re: Problems with Total Protection 2012 settings

Well my first answer gave a link to what you can do if VirusScan thinks something is bad wrongly.
