Personal privacy

I was considering adding my phone as a device protected by McAfee, but I don't make such decisions without doing some research. In this case, I have legitimate concerns about my privacy, more so on my phone than my pc.

Anyway, I logged into the McAfee web page and read their "privacy" policy. It did little to alleviate my concerns.  So did a privacy check on McAfee by checking how many cookies and web beacons my visit to the site procured. Here's a small sample of what I found:

1 Google tracker seen (1 blocked)

logon.mcafee.com
1 Google tracker seen (1 blocked)

home.mcafee.com
1 Google tracker seen (1 blocked)

forums.mcafee.com
1 Google tracker seen (1 blocked)
www.mcafee.com
1 Facebook tracker seen (1 blocked)

logon.mcafee.com
1 Facebook tracker seen (1 blocked)

home.mcafee.com
1 Facebook tracker seen (1 blocked)

Twitter

This organization has 1 tracker seen on 3 sites. The same tracker may be seen across multiple sites.

www.mcafee.com
1 Twitter tracker seen (1 blocked)

logon.mcafee.com
1 Twitter tracker seen (1 blocked)

home.mcafee.com
1 Twitter tracker seen (1 blocked)
Like I said, this is a small sample. There were hundreds more from just one visit. It should be noted that I have never had a twitter or facebook account, nor visited either site. These are people I distrust and dislike, and McAfee is selling my personal info to them.
It seems one of the least private places online is the McAfee homepage.
Anybody who wants to protect themselves must take the initiative. Paying good money to McAfee clearly doesn't help. I'll be requesting refund in the morning.

Re: Personal privacy

Hi @StevenSamSmith

Greetings from McAfee!

McAfee Firewall checks the incoming IP address (a unique identifier that helps identify Internet-connected devices) against McAfee Global Threat Intelligence (GTI) database. GTI catalogs the reputations of IP addresses around the globe. IP addresses associated with phishing websites, sites infected with malware, or otherwise malicious sites, have a 'bad' reputation in the GTI database. So, they are blocked from connecting to your PC and show up as risky connections in your McAfee software. This article will brief about the risky connections blocked in your pc Your McAfee software blocked risky connections.
