New PC keeps trying to load McAfee and failing.

Jump to solution

A new laptop keeps trying to install McAfee and fails - it just keeps running in the background.

We have another AV product (which we have paid for and want to keep) installed.

Task manager shows the following as running: McAfee OS Switch exe

It is exasperating.

Guidance on how to remove this would be appreciated.

Using the consumer removal tool worked a charm.

Hello,
Could you please let me know what all application you see in programs and features ? If you see any then kindly let me know the name of the applications you are seeing.
I am suspecting that McAfee OS Switch Exe belongs to McAfee Agent but you can cross verify let me know if you see anything in program and features.
Another thing which you can tell us what all McAfee Products that you were using in system before that would give us an idea because we have two different types of removal tool, one which removes the consumers product and another one removes the enterprise/business products,

Look forward to your reply,

Thanks

I do not currently have access to the PC in question, but I have previously looked at the apps/programs both via the settings gear wheel and via the control panel, and there are no McAfee products listed. This is a brand new consumer laptop so I do not think there are any previous McAfee products on the PC.

I did not look at the removal tool, but the instructions says that one should allow the program to fully install before running the tool. And the program will not install.

Removal Tool

As we don't want to use the product should we ignore the IMPORTANT warning and run the tool?

The pop-up which keeps appearing says something like, "We're getting everything ready....."

Hopefully this is sufficient information for you to be able to advise.

Kind Regards

"I did not look at the removal tool.." should read "I did look at the removal tool.."
My apologies

I'm not impressed by this move

1. Only one post has been moved so one has to come back here to see the thread.

2. The PC in question is a consumer product and has nothing to do with business.

3. The solution suggested is to use a consumer product removal tool.
