Multiple Update message and Menu Display issue

Since updating to Windows 10, McAfee has looked different, see image below,  In addition, multiple check for update messages appear.  I can say remind in 2 days and get 2 to 4 messages a day.  Any idea what is going on, or how to solve it?  Thanks.

Re: Multiple Update message and Menu Display issue

Unsure I would initially run the Mcafee virtual Technician and see what it says

http://mvt.mcafee.com/

that image is not what Mcafee opens to it is either a manage Mcafee screen or

Ignore the Beta in the title I am running a beta version.

When you installed win 10 did you remove Mcafee first?

If not it could be corrupted and a reinstall might help.

Remove and reinstall Mcafee consumer

Re: Multiple Update message and Menu Display issue

If you are using Edge that could be the reason.  Use either IE11 (already installed) or get Firefox and have add-ons enabled in both (Flash, Java etc.).   Both work well in W10.

Moved this to General Discussion btw.

Re: Multiple Update message and Menu Display issue

Ran the McAfee Virtual Technician and it found no issues.

No, did not remove McAfee before installing Windows 10.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Multiple Update message and Menu Display issue

It is always advisable when performing a major upgrade, to remove or at the minimum disable your Anti-Virus. If you are still experiencing any issues, I would suggest to follow the Guidelines/Instructions Colleague Peacekeeper inserted in Post #1.

For as he mentioned, it could quite possibly have corrupted your McAfee installation.

Just thought I would add that....

I would also make certain you have the Latest Adobe Flash Player installed, as McAfee utilizes it to display the interface.

All the very best,

CD

I might add also that Colleague Ex_Brit's advice is well advised, in regards to which 'Browser' to use if you re-install.

Re: Multiple Update message and Menu Display issue

I would uninstall all McAfee via Control Panel > Programs and Features

Run MCPR cleanup and reboot

Reinstall from your online account.  It all should work fine after that.

Re: Multiple Update message and Menu Display issue

McAfee consumer products are working on IE platform. So before uninstalling and reinstalling the program I would suggest to reset IE and update Java.

The recommendation seems to be to log into the command prompt as an administrator and to type "regsvr32 jscript.dll" and press enter.

Open Run box and type inetcpl.cpl and hit enter, you will get internet properties then select the advanced tab and scroll down the list and uncheck three things in that;

Check for publishers certificate revocation

Check for server certificate revocation

Check for signatures on downloaded program.

Now right click on the McAfee Icon on the task bar and check for an update.

Once you complete the update restart the computer and check the program and dont forget to recheck the options. if it dint work I would go with Ex_Brit

Following the suggestions on Uninstalling/Reinstalling (Post #6) by Colleague Ex_Brit should suffice .

Re: Multiple Update message and Menu Display issue

If there is a Java issue or IE problems, uninstallation and reinstallation wont work.
