I've emailed a friend in Support - not too sure of his hours though as he is in India and I note that you are in South Africa so have told him that. I also gave him the URL of this thread, an outline of the problems, that support ID etc. Hopefully he will post here with what steps he intends to take.
Great, Thank-you !
On a side note; is it correct that I only have 3 Mcafee add-ons ? :
SideAdvisor Toolbar
Scriptproxy
Siteadvisor BHO
I could have sworn that in the older days I had 4 Mcafee add-ons ?
In the browser yes. By the way what is your operating system and service pack and what version of Internet Explorer is installed (whether or not you use it)?
They are going to need that information.

Be aware of their installers though, they offer optional 3rd party software which you should uncheck.
Also you should make sure that Java is up to date here: http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp
.

I attached a system info log for reference.
Vista HP SP2, IE9.
RPH
Thanks that info along with the MVT log attached to post #29 should help.
Have you tried a system restore? Have you used the McAfee cleaning tool to make sure all remnents are removed before reinstalling? do you have any other virus protection installed that has not been completely removed? what version of Mcafee are you trying uninstall and what version are you trying to install?
No, I don't see why it would help. I have had this problem for a long time now so I cannot restore now.
No other virus protection and I did use the cleaning tool.
It's Total protection.
Sol, I've asked a support person to help out here.
Sorry, I am fairly new here and did not notice the date or the 4 pages of replies. I hope you were able to get it resolved.
