I purchased McAfee Total Protection 2011 and installed it on 01/30/11. I installed the software from the cd.
Now Mcafee Home page throws message "your computer is at risk" and "Updates" - Available has a red cross against it.
When I click on "Check for Updates", nothing downloads though it shows it is updating and then says its done.
The message after it is - Your programs are up to date and Automatic Updates: On.
However the Mcafee Home page throws message "your computer is at risk" even after all this.
Please advise asap.
Thanks in advance.

Did you have another AV program installed previously. If so did you use add/remove programs to remove it or its own uninstall tool. the latter is really the way to go.
Also post your Operating system and service pack as well as PC specs
