McAfee is blocking access to a website I need. Please help!

Hi, it's been one of those weeks!  As a real estate broker, I need to be able to log in to a certain website for Real Estate forms.  McAfee blocks access to this thinking it is a trojan virus.  I know it's safe.  How do I disable McAfee for this particular website without compromising the security of my computer?  When I called the customer service line for the web software I'm trying to use, they gave me a list of exclusions that need to be added to McAfee. But McAfee customer service has been no help since I don't have a personal account - it's through the university where I take some classes.  Please, someone, help me unblock this website!

Re: McAfee is blocking access to a website I need. Please help!

Hi,

Can't thank you enough for your willingness to try and help with this.

The website I need to work from is realfast2go.com

When I try to log in, McAfee blocks me from it saying that it is a trojan virus.

Realfast sent me this email:

-------------------------------------------------------------

Realfast2Go   Anti Virus Information

Realfast2Go saves   and transfers data to and from both the Realfast2Go server and the local   computer's hard drive. Some anti virus software configurations may   incorrectly recognize this data transfer as being potentially harmful to your   computer and therefore block the file transfer. If this occurs, your anti   virus software will require the following exclusions to be to be created to   run Realfast2Go correctly.

Please see your   anti virus software developer's support resources for instructions to   configure your security software.

Exclusion IP's and   URL's – IP: http://66.129.114.121,   URL: http://realfast2.com/*, URL: http://www.realfast2.com/*

After the anti   virus exceptions have been entered please follow the steps below to refresh   your local Realfast2Go data which will download any files that were   previously blocked by your anti virus software.

1.    Locate   your computer's C: drive

2.    Rename   the Realfast2Go folder to Realfast2Go_OLD.

3.    Login   to Realfast2Go from http://www.realfast2.com. You   will not be able to use your existing desktop icon for Realfast2Go at this   time.

4.    This   will prompt the Realfast2Go program to rebuild the data folder on your   computer and should remove the error message.

If the issues are   resolved and Realfast2Go is running correctly then you will be able to delete   the C:\Realfast2Go_OLD folder.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

What I can't figure out is how to add the exclusions to McAfee.  It would be a major help if you know what to do and can advise!

Thank you!

Asking as unsure

1 thing in that Realfast2Go folder is there an executable file ie add this to the program connections area of mcafee firewall set access to full.

Have another idea but asking first before suggesting

Hi,

Thank you again for your time and effort.  I have to admit though that your latest message is beyond my limited knowledge of this software.  I do not know how to execute what you are suggesting.  Can you break this down in plain English for a simpleton? !

Re: McAfee is blocking access to a website I need. Please help!

My thought was

Open windows explore and go to the folder Realfast2G

Open the folder and note the name of the exe program that is run.

Then open Mcafee security centre ie click on the shield bottom right corner of the screen.

click on web and email protection and then firewall

You will see a program permissions link open that and click on add.

Click on add and browse to the folder and select the exe you found. Allow full access and save it

This all assumes you have an exe in the folder.

Other way is issue could be caused by site advisor thought it shows green

Click on the Down arrow and go to trusted sites and trust the sites they gave you

If this does not help will have to ask 1 of our techs.

By the way what is the trojan name?

Re: McAfee is blocking access to a website I need. Please help!

So is it actually blocking the site or is it saying that exe has a trojan in it? Does it qurantine the file in Quarantined and trusted items or does it delete the file?

Did you try what was suggested?
