I have McAfee Personal Firewall Plus for MSN; it is included in my MSN dial-up Internet subscription. This is on my home computer.
McAfee Security Center Version 11.6
McAfee Virus Scan Version 15.6
McAfee Personal Firewall 12.6
(Before you suggest that I contact MSN, Internet subscribers making inquiries to MSN about McAfee issues are instructed to consult McAfee.)
And is the DAT to which I referred (7410) that large an update???
Hi mrshvd3
Thanks for the information. The version seems to be pretty old. Could you please help me with the Screenshot of your Product (installed) so that I can make a move...!
Could it be MSN is moving up to 12.8 now that would be a big update though should not be that slow.
Peacekeeper: Your suggestion is one I hadn't considered, so I went onto MSN's Support Forum and put that question to their tech support. Here is the reply from Jeeva:
"We are really sorry for the inconvenience. We would like to keep you informed that it’s a known issue with McAfee as the issue started after the McAfee updates release recently. McAfee Support Engineers are working diligently towards it and we will notify you immediately when we get the fix. We appreciate your patience."
Previous upgrades hadn't taken more than an hour or so, which is why this one taking 10-12 hours (estimated) seemed ridiculous. As it turns out, the update probably would have failed anyway.
I'm hoping to hear soon that the problem has been corrected.
Thank you for your post.

I have no idea how to do that or what it would mean. We don't all know what you know about these things.
In any event, with Peacekeeper's suggestion, I put the update problem question to MSN's tech support on their forum and received this reply from Jeeva:

It seems to me that this is something someone at McAfee Support should have shared with you, as you are in the position of trying to help us. I do appreciate your attention, though, and I hope that the update glitch will be fixed soon.
Hello mrshvd3,
(Screenshot) That is Okay..!
There was a confirmation that McAfee through MSN will have the stable release of WSS 11.6 however soon an update will be released to WSS 12.8. Look for my post here in regards to future updates.
I wish to conclude that your McAfee Subscriotion through MSN is the latest (MSC 11.6) time being.
on 19/4/14 4:05:48 AM ISTThank you, Selvan, for the confirmation. I usually find that if I keep trying to update, it eventually starts to work properly once the glitch has been fixed (assuming that no one has notified us that the fix has been issued). And assuming that the fix is forthcoming, I'm pleased at the help and information I've received here so far.
Selvan --
Eureka!! The glitch has now been repaired and my McAfee updates are back up and running, at least through yesterday's update (7412). Today's should be in later this afternoon, and I'll do it then.
Thank you for your assistance.
mrshvd3
Glad to hear your issue has been resolved
Actually, Tom, it was McAfee's issue.
But I'm pleased, too. Thank you for being part of the solution.
