Selvan,
I no longer have the programs loaded on either my Win 8.1 Laptop or my Dell Win 7 Desktop computers. Therefore, I don't know the version numbers of the software involved, other than to tell you they were reinstalled last week using whatever version McAfee had linked to their member support site after clicking "Reinstall".
A reboot DID NOT PERMANENTLY solve the problem. After an hour or so, maybe several hours, the Chrome browser (latest version) on the 8.1 laptop would crash and no browser was able to browse, but Outlook mail worked in send and receive. On the Desktop Win 7 machine, a typical morning start-of-day boot-up might run for hours before the Firewall would be reported as off, but again, reports of the firewall being off WERE NOT visible on the Win 7 machine, but WERE VISIBLE on the control panel of my 8.1 laptop showing the status of that machine.
My Win 7 Laptop, which appears to continue to run smoothly, is running McAfee 15.1.156. I have not had the need, and therefore have not reinstalled McAfee on the fully functioning Win 7 Laptop. See all version details below for the Win 7 laptop machine.
Best regards,
John
Those versions same as my beta versions. Check the scanning options changed a lot.
Peacekeeper,
Sorry, but I don't understand your post. Are you asking me to check something?
Those frame grab snapshots are from the working machine, not from either of the two (2) other machines that demonstrated the recurring firewall and browser failures.
John
I think what PK meant is the Features have changed in the 15.1R0 Version in comparison to the 14.0 R12 Version. Primarily the way the (LAM) Scanning engine functions. It scans less number of files, and there is no scheduled Scans. Due to the way it now detects/monitor processes.
Example; new LAM ( Lightweight anyimalware) install FAQs
Other PCs same version or 14.0.r12?
Peacekeeper,
As I mentioned above,
"I no longer have the programs loaded on either my Win 8.1 Laptop or my Dell Win 7 Desktop computers. Therefore, I don't know the version numbers of the software involved, other than to tell you they were reinstalled last week using whatever version McAfee had linked to their member support site after clicking "Reinstall"."
So, I don't know what versions the other PC's were, other than to say it was what ever McAfee had on their site about 10 days ago.
Are you with me on this now?
Ok so 98% possible they were 14.0.R12.. Besides it was a legit question but you could not remember so no biggie.
Selvan is in the thread so will remove myself and leave it to him.
Peacekeeper,
Thanks for your efforts. I hope this will soon be resolved.
John
So, I haven't heard from anyone on what might be going on to resolve this. I also see others with same or similar symptoms and problems.
What do I need to do next to get McAfee back up and running without problems on my 8.1 Laptop and Win 7 Desktop?
Thanks,
John
