My name is Linda C.
On 4-8-2017 I reported the same as everyone else on S.K.'s screen, since December 16, 2016.
(ASUS with Windows 7)
While waiting for an answer from you,
Don't ask me how I knew to do this...I just went to see if anything was blocked & noticed some "Net Guard" items turned "Off"
on McAfee items. (Just got lucky, I guess.) Turned all that was "Off" to "On".
Waited 3 days and it seems to be fixed. I can do an "about", "shread", or "Quick Clean"
and no problems with hang-ups in Update or Task Manager.
Here's how to fix it:
After u restart & un-hang it, Go back to Main screen:
1. Navigation
2. Firewall
3. Internet Connections for Programs
4. Make sure each McAfee Program has "Net Guard" turned "On"
If it's not, click on it & then hit 'Edit" & manually turn it on.
5. Update and turn everything on and
Go back to Main screen and make sure all boxes show ok checkmarks.
6. Restart and go back to Main Screen:
a. Navigation
b. About:
I still show green screen:
McAfee Internet Security
Version: 14.0
Release Name: 14.0 R13
McAfee SecurityCenter
Version: 15.4
Build: 15.4.4031
Affld: 358
Language: en-us
Last update: 4/8/2017 (Finally updated..it was showing 2016, earlier)
It's baaaaaack. Today web sites lost the connection twice. Wouldn't reload and had to reboot. Exactly what was happening a couple of months ago.
FWIW, the last couple of days, my screen would freeze and I'd get a pop up window saying "Internt connection lost" so I'd click the button and it would refresh the page. Didn't have to reboot.
The McClientAnalytics64 was last modified on Apr. 5. Maybe the time I started having "Internet Connection Lost" issues.
Something odd: Few hours ago I checked the version and I had McAfee Internet Security Version 14.0 R 13, McAfee Security Center Version 15.4, Build 15.4.4031, Affld is 0. But I just opened up McAfee, and now Internet Security is Version 15.1, Release name 15.1 R2. (I must have gotten an update in between). Security Center's the same.
If I go into Program Files - McAfee, the folders in there are all new: CoreUI, GKP, MfeAV, MPF, etc. All dated today. Never saw these before, and no McClientAnalytics folders.
Also, the main window it has "real time scanning" all in red, telling me to turn it on (I never turned it off). So I click the "turn on" button, turns green, x out of the software altogether, open it again and again it has "real time scanning" in red telling me to turn it on again. So turning it on didn't lock in. If I click "PC Security" the real time scanning (on the left) is in red, but if I click the words and bring up the Real Time Scanning Window it says it's on (there is an "off" button). So is it on or isn't it?
Did it a few times. I get red on the main screen and PC Security screen, but when I go into the Real Time Scanning's own window, it's on.
(I have the blue interface, not the old green.)
Could be the update messed up best you uninstall and reinstall from your account
That would be 1 thing to try. the other would be download and run MVT the virtual technician it might find an issue.
When I turned the laptop on today and opened McAfee, there was no red and the real time scanning was on (green). And it's on when I go into PC Security. So that cleared up. I ran the MVT and it was clean.
So far, web sites haven't lost connection and haven't had to reboot. I'll see what happens.
Ok give it a few days and if ok great.
