McAfee Outlook Add-in prevents Outlook from closing

With the McAfee Outlook Add-in on, MS Outlook does not close properly.

After attempting to close Outlook, it will appear closed but cannot be reopened. The workaround is to go to task manager, stop the outlook.exe process, then open Outlook.

With the McAfee Add-in off, the issue is resolved. When attempting to close Outlook, it will properly close and outlook.exe will no longer be in the task manager. [to turn it on/off in outlook: File->Options->Add-ins->Manage: COM Add-ins->Go]

I have noticed that the problem is intermittent but can't determine why. I'm using Office 365. This happened on Windows 10 and after the upgrade to Windows 11.

Clearly, not using a purchased McAfee product is not a good workaround. Any information on how to fix this would be appreciated.
