Is there a problem with July 26 / July 27 McAfee Internet Security Updates?

I have five computers at home, Windows XP and Windows 7. So far in the last 12 hours we have had two serious crashes. One of the kids' desktop PCs, Windows XP SP3, received new McAfee updates sometime yesterday July 26 and the video driver was corrupted and had to be reinstalled. While the video was in 640x480 mode, I noticed that McAfee complained that real time scanning was disabled. Replacing the video drivers seemed to fix all issues (two restarts as well). Then this morning my wife's laptop, Windows 7 SP1, began to crash with a video driver error and McAfee Internet Security 2011 is complaining that real time scanning is off. We are going to uninstall McAfee as a first step. Both of these computers have been problem-free for many months. Why in the last 12 hours are we getting video corruption problems??

Is McAfee aware of this issue??

Hi geoperkins,
Apologise for the inconvenience caused here, this is something new that is been reported as of now , could you please let us know if we saw a crash message on those computer that contained info on any McAfee related files  ? Also, could you please let us know what is the version of McAfee security center in that affected PC ?

Re: Is there a problem with July 26 / July 27 McAfee Internet Security Updates?

Of the 5 licenses of McAfee Internet Security Suite, only two computers had problems, both of those subsequently were repaired without needing to reinstall McAfee... It is possible of course this had nothing to do with McAfee updates. In both cases Windows security reported that it was unprotetcted by an antivirus program and firewall; McAfee probably was performing an update while a Windows event (such as shutdown, hibernate, etc.) was occuring and perhaps this interrupted the normal update process?

When Windows makes updates it displays a screen message during restart, "Windows Updates in progress. Do not power off computer." However, there is no such warning from McAfee.
