I'm running OSX10.9.5 but told this is not enough?

Can someone help please? I'm an oldie and not good at this stuff. Had a Dell with McAfee installed a couple of years ago but seems to have lapsed. Since got my hands on a MacBook Pro running OSX10.9.5 with 4GB memmory but the message I get from my new purchase of McAfee tonight is that I need an upgrade. They also want me to install Windows Explorer. Does this sound right? Or is it getting tangled up with my old system? I have downloaded onto the MAC.

Thanks for any pointers.

Thank you for contacting McAfee Support.

As I understand you need help installing McAfee on MAC.

I see you have two products.

1. Double check that you have the latest MAC OS updates.

2. Please, contact McAfee support to refund McAfee LiveSafe 

3. You need to install McAfee Total Protection on all your devices.

Hello @baffled

Mac security software installs only on supported versions of macOS or OS X 10.10 and above. If you have an older/unsupported version of the operating system you must update your macOS to latest version.

  • Safe Connect VPN:  You will receive free, unlimited access to our VPN wireless on supported devices. Users not on auto-renewal have access to 500 MB/month of bandwidth.

  • Eligibility: McAfee® Identity Monitoring Service Essentials is available within active McAfee Total Protection and McAfee LiveSafe subscriptions with identity monitoring for up to 10 unique emails. Phone number monitoring is enabled upon activation of Automatic Renewal. Not all identity monitoring elements are available in all countries. See Product Terms of Service for more information. 
  • Your subscription is subject to our License Agreement and Privacy Notice. Product features may be added, changed or removed during the subscription term. Some features may require registration and a valid ID number to activate. See System Requirements for additional information.
  • While McAfee Identity Monitoring Service provides you tools and resources to protect yourself from identity theft, no identity can be completely secure.
