Re: How to protect against Ransomware

Catdaddy,

Glad to see that McAfee is protecting the home user from ransomware. I started thinking about this problem again after seeing that my backup software vendor, Macrium Reflect, has an update that will protect its images from being locked by ransomware. Ransomware might lock up data files or the entire system- but with a Reflect boot disk, we can boot up and get to a protected image, then restore the system.

From reading your item- I see that the home user isn't likely to be attacked by ransomware, but I suppose it's a good idea to take all precautions, including the most advanced methods used by backup software vendors.

Or should I save my money and not purchase the update from Macrium Reflect? I really like their program.

Joe
