HOW DO I UNINSTALL McAFEE VAULT FOLDER

Hi there.

I have a slight problem. I have uninstalled my McAfee Security Suite including Vault in an attempt to solve a windows update and program installation problem. I have looked at all possibilities to try and solve this without success. I have checked for viruses and malware and all is well. Microsoft advisors don't seem to know what the problem is.

I was advised to remove and reinstall the McAfee software which I was told may not have installed properly, as it was an upgrade to previously installed McAfee files. I was able to uninstall but not reinstall.

The program installation problem continues and I'm unable to reinstate the Security Suite. I tried MPCR.exe and all McAfee files are gone. However, what may be the cause of the windows update and program installation problem is that I have a McAfee Vault folder (system folder) still showing within the My Computer folder. I am unable to delete it, even in safe mode.

What is the best way to remove this folder? Any other advice or action I haven't tried greatfully received.

Hi,

Uninstalling McAfee Anti-Theft removes the application, but leaves behind configuration information which prevents the application from being removed completely, which affects future installations of Anti-Theft. Moreover you should not have any issue in installing McAfee suite because of antitheft traces.Kindly report back with the error message while installing McAfee .

well,there is no such way as i am facing the same problem right now....but luckily i found a solution....there is only one way to delete a vault....follow the instructions carefully....

STEP 1-open anti-theft file protection .

STEP 2-there will be a vault which you want to remove....

STEP 3-*LOCK THE FOLDER/VAULT*

STEP 4-RIGHT CLICK ON IT

Step 5-and there will be delete option there!!!!

NOTE-only works when folder is locked.

That's not entirely true in certain cases. Replies like the one skillerx made are timeless, as it helped me figure out how to delete my vault just now.

As the software talked about in this thread, Anti-Theft, is obsolete, I'm locking this thread.

Anyone new with a Vaults issue should be posting in the File Lock forum.

To remove vaults once you've uninstalled McAfee use the Uninstaller tool, or call Technical Support directly, it's free of charge and linked below.
