Frustration with customer support/web pages

Has anyone else had problems with connecting to customer support?  Via the website I've tried email, chat, and phone...and nothing goes through.  I've had McAfee for years for my laptop, and recently fired it up, only to be told that it was unprotected.  I went through a frustrating round trying to connect with customer support, finally connecting and telling them that I had just received an auto-renewal confirmation.  After a fairly long chat, customer support said I would be able to download my updates.  Sure enough, the download started.  The next time I logged on, I kept getting the same message.  I'm trying to connect again with customer support via chat, but it won't submit.  The web pages are brain-dead, clicking either doesn't work, or just brings me back to the same page.  What's going on?

Re: Frustration with customer support/web pages

I just checked here, (I use the US site) and if I had let it complete an online chat would have started.  Did you try the phone alternative?

Could be your browser settings perhaps?

Re: Frustration with customer support/web pages

The phone numbers wouldn't come up when I hit the phone.  I logged in using IE 10-compatibility mode, then FireFox.  The submit button just recycles me back to the same page.  I sat waiting for the chat to start after submit for 30 minutes.  Not worth wasting my time.  I'm just going to contact the bank and kill the renewal charge on the card and disallow McAfee to charge anything on the card again.  Years of good service and it's all down the tube because their website doesn't work, and their product has decided to bomb out on a machine that's been using McAfee for nearly 4 years.  They need to recognize that customers have a choice.

Try calling it anyway.

Re: Frustration with customer support/web pages

Peter, thanks for letting me rant.  I was finally able to get through using the phone number you provided...I don't know why the webpage locked up.  I've canceled McAfee and gone with another service...life is too short to get this much grief trying to make something

work. >;o)

Regards,

Mac

Re: Frustration with customer support/web pages

A final thought that may be useful ahead...always make sure your system is totally up to date, particularly your browsers and their add-ons.  McAfee and some Windows processes, use Internet Explorer, so always keep it up to date even if you never use it.  Security software usually works best if browsers are set to their default settings also, another factor.
