I just received an update, took a bit longer than normal to download, and it gave me Version 16.0 Release Name 16.0 R 6 so I guess I finally got "the update."
I'll find out tomorrow when I turn the laptop on to see if it works.
Yah thanks for that I assume it is fixed now?
My version is McAfee Total Protection version: 16.0.5. It says it is fully updated and still has the pop up window on start-up. Windows 10 Home version 1709 OS build 16299.192. What is going on? Is this happening to everyone or just a few people?
The update is rolling out now they usually throttle it so will take a while to propagate to all users.
Ok, thanks, I reinstalled and it changed to R6.
That is the fast way to get it. All fixed now I assume
Interface did not open when I booted up today, so the update worked.
Apparently I have received the announced update as the pop-up is no longer happening as of today (11th January). That's the good news.
The bad news is that whilst now I can open the Security Center as before I can't do anything else with it. That's why I can't check whether I've actually installed an update or not.
The message I get is:
"We can't load this info right now. Refresh the screen and we'll try again" .
Reboot or refreshing makes no difference, I get a screen with some grey panels blinking and then the message reappears. I can click on the headers at the top, the screen goes to right page, but the message stays and I can't click on anything else (like the About button).
Whilst this is much less irritating than before, it's still not OK and I'm not sure I'm actually protected.
Help!
That sounds as if you have a corrupted update Really i would not waste time but uninstall reinstall from your account it should take only 15 mins or less.
Uninstall via windows Programs and features reboot then run MCPR
Download the MCPR tool
Reboot and follow the preparation steps for an install.
Mcafee install preparation steps
Install from your account
Klaus, I had the same problem last year and uninstall and reinstall worked. If you're unsure about uninstalling and reinstalling, you can always call tech support and have them do it. I've had them do it a few times.
