Hi i recently am getting dns errors every once in a while in event viewer and i notice chrome is running slower.
I did some digging and found that when the dns error occurs in the event log the mcafee security report says that UDP PORT 58475 was blocked by my own home ip address. I dont know what's going on.
.
The port number here is irrelevant, it's just a random use-as-required port.
The range 49152–65535 (215+214 to 216−1) contains dynamic or private ports that cannot be registered with IANA.[315]This range is used for private, or customized services or temporary purposes and for automatic allocation of ephemeral ports.
To make sense of this it would be helpful to see what one of those errors from the event log says.
And does the Security Report say the port is being blocked for incoming or outgoing traffic?

It's a very common problem and one of the solutions is to change your DNS server preference to Google's, which is 8.8.8.8
There are other things you can try but some of them seem to be OS-specific. What version of Windows have you got?
window 8
