Can't install VirusScan Plus McBrwsr2.dll error

Hi,

I have been unable to install this on my machine - the installer is DMSetup.exe for VirusScan Plus. When I run the installer, I get a blank window with nothing but the McAfee title bar. After some investigation I drilled down into the log files stored in C:\ProgramData\McAfee\MCLOGS\Common\Install. It contains several hundred lines with the same message:

05/30/2010 12:46:46 PM$ -- (Error)$ [   McBrwsr2.dll]$ The parameter name wasn't found!
05/30/2010 12:46:46 PM$ -- (Error)$ [   McBrwsr2.dll]$ Exiting - FAILED
05/30/2010 12:46:46 PM$ -- (Error)$ [   McBrwsr2.dll]$ The parameter name wasn't found!
05/30/2010 12:46:46 PM$ -- (Error)$ [   McBrwsr2.dll]$ Exiting - FAILED

The solution proposed by Dinesh of registering the crypto dlls does not work for me.

I am on Windows 7 64-bit.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

Let me know what processor you run on the machine. Also please clarify, if you had McAfee on the system previously. We can try to run McAfee preinstall tool before installing. If it’s not been tried earlier http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/McPreInstall.exe

Hi,

I have a Intel Core i3 processor with 4GB of memory.

I ran the pre-install tool and then ran the original installer but there is no difference.

I did have a trial edition of McAfee on this machine that came with the laptop. I uninstalled it before trying to install this version.

May I know what is the browser that we use to install the programs.
Also please provide me with a screen shot of the error if possible.
