An update is being installed - This goes on for days and days. Why?

I can't open McAfee and have it do anything for me because I continually get the same message, "An update is being installed".

What do I have to do to make McAffe just work like it's supposed to and quit dispalying this message?

Have you tried doing a 'Restart' as sometimes this completes the installation?

There are several other threads of the same problem.  Hopefully there will be a fix soon.  It has been going on for months.

Also the New installer is slated to release any day now, the Version/Build 15.1r2. The New User interface should be (Blue) also. As far as my knowledge this build is functioning just fine. I have been running 15.1.156 since last October, and have not experienced anything untoward.

Yes, I have restarted the computer several times in the last week. The continual updating still goes on.

If this is Windows 10, turn off Fast Startup as it prevents a clean restart.

Disable through the Control Panel

1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard, type in Power Options, and then press Enter.
2. From the left-hand menu, select Choose what the power buttons do.
3. Under the Shutdown settings section, uncheck the box next to Turn on fast startup (recommended).
4. Click the Save changes button.

**Also check that your system clock is accurate for time, day and date.
