Unknown port 137 connections

Hello Community,

thank you for your time and patience.

When I open the McAfee Traffic Monitor, I see under "Active Programs" a "System Process" under which, from time to time, appear "Established" connections on port 137 and 138 to unknown IP addresses...I tried to 'look up' online some of the addresses, and they are from random places (ex. Canada, New Zealand, etc).

The suspect 'established' connections last for very little, then they go away or new IPs replace the old ones...

Is this alright or is something wrong going on?

Thank you,

C

Re: Unknown port 137 connections

Hello,

I only have a wired DSL connection for my laptop at home. No printers or any other sort of sharing. I have Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2.

Thanks,

C
