Renewed McAfee & iTunes problems

I recently renewed my McAfee subscription and have since been having difficulties with iTunes.  Specifically I cannot eject my ipod from iTunes and sometimes iTunes does not recognise my ipod and asks me to restore which will of course delete all my 70gb of files off of my ipod.

I found a solution in the Apple discussion board...lots of people with this issue had McAfee virus protection.  I have solved my problems by disabling the firewall whenever i need to eject my ipod.  This is not ideal but it works.

Does McAfee have any plans to address this issue???

Re: Renewed McAfee & iTunes problems

Please follow the enclosed screen instructions to make sure iTunes is been added and given Full Access in McAfee Firewall Program Permissions, if not found try adding them and check the status.

This seems to be a stock answer which rarely helps anyone.

Yes my program permissions inculdes iTunes at full access.

Again, does McAfee intend to address the issue?

Re: Renewed McAfee & iTunes problems

We had few issues with iTunes but it was not the same as you have specified. However, can you please try the following to check and see whether it helps us to fix the problem.

  1. Click the Start button, then point to Control Panel.
  2. Click Networking and Internet Connections
  3. Click Network Connections.
  4. Double-click the connection you use for iTunes music sharing.
  5. Click Properties.
  6. Click the Advanced tab.
  7. Click the checkbox to deselect "Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet"
  8. Click OK.

Is it possible for you to provide me with the link of Apple discussion board where it's mentioned as McAfee problem please...

Re: Renewed McAfee & iTunes problems

Sure.  Note this is just the discussion that I replied to as it fixed my issue i.e. enabled me to eject my ipod without losing data.
