Ports open after update to sc 12.1

Hi

Happy new year.

Today i recived the update to security center 12.1

after the update is was looking at the firewall tab ports and system services.

There where a lot more ports set to open then before

The default set the ports for netbios windows mediaplayer network sharing service  help on a distance and home group open.

I have unchecked the boxes and closed this ports i did not used them before.

Re: Ports open after update to sc 12.1

They are actually stealthed rather than wide open.  The description 'open' there is a little misleading.   If you did a ports test I think you'd find it's still secure.

I'm not sure why that setting is the way it is but if you have a network that may have something to do with it.  Support would know best.

ShieldsUp Ports tests:  https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

Caveat with the preceding test, if you have a router with a hardware firewall switched on (most do, which is fine) between your computer and the web then it will read that.

Happy New Year.   😉
