Personal Firewall: Disabled

Have Personal Firewall V10.3.106
When PC starts up the "M" icon is red, then after about 30 seconds it changes to black.
If you hover over the "M" it says Personal Firewall: Disabled.
If you right click the "M" and try and select the Personel Firewall menu, it is blank.
Have tried running Verify Subscription and Check for Updates - all return that everything OK. Security Centre also reports Firewall is running and OK
so why is "M" black??

suggestion

Please confirm/follow the steps:

How you got the McAfee product installed in the computer either through the CD or with computer?
Did you made any changes to the computer in the recent past
Did you try to perform a system restore recently?

Steps

Right click on McAfee and update the product: check what message you get it
Run the MVT and post you’re Session ID

Personal Firewall: Disabled

Thanks for your help/suggestions. We have run the MVT and the Session ID is 17297214.
We get broadband from AOL and downloaded Security Suite from McAfee's website.
MVT Reported no problems.
Hope you can suggest next steps.

Download the registry cleanup file

1. Download VirusScan.zip to your desktop using this link: . http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/VirusScan.zip
2. Unzip VirusScan.reg to your desktop.
3. Double-click the file VirusScan.reg to remove the VirusScan registry entries.
4. When prompted, proceed by saying yes.
5. Follow the remaining steps to ensure VirusScan is completely removed from your pc:

# From the Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs and uninstall all McAfee applications.
# Run the newest version of MCPR and restart the computer.

* Get MCPR from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

If you feel that you need to run them, run each of the 2006 removal tools listed below one at a time. After the last removal tool has finished, restart the system.

Personal Firewall: Disabled

Thanks for your help. Mcafee has now been successfully removed.
What would you advise we do next as we now have no virus protection at all. Should we purchase security suite from AOL or buy a standalone product?
We need firewall, virus protection, spyware etc.
At the moment we have turned the Windows Firewall on to give at least some protection.
Thank you
