Firewall repeatedly closing down?

I have been having this problem for 2 days straight now and its bugging me a bit, the firewall will turn off unnexpectedly and when i go into the mcafee security centre it says Firewall: ON, but when i click the settings to see them i cant turn on the firewall and all the tabs are greyed out.

What is the type of operating system you are using? Windows XP / 7 / 8 / Vista

What is the type of Internet Connection ? DSL / Cable / Wireless

Well, for some reason, Windows Firewall Service does not exist on my pc

Virus removal $89.95 no service that I can see that is $100 unless you got onto techmaster and they gave you a discount. Did they give you a SR job number? I will follow this up. Ok followed up the phone number it is a private tech support company supporting all brands and how they can guarantee the issues will not happen again beats me. Did you watch what they did ie did they remove mcafee and was the reinstall from your account?

The issue is usually caused by missing firewall and Base filtering services and Karthiks can fix that for nothing. ( he is off till Monday)

Open RUN window

Type services.msc and click on OK

Search for the below services and check it is present

Base Filtering Engine service

Windows Firewall service

If the above services are present, it should be as started and automatic

If you are unable to start them or you do not see the above services update your post here

Post also  your Operating system. If the services are missig karthiks ( Macfee tech) above needs to access your PC to fix it or step you through how.
