Re: Firewall keeps turning off

I am working on it the tech that was fixing these firewall disabled when no base filtering engine service present or windows firewall service present off sick for a extended period so they are arranging another senior tech to help here. I had emailed him on the day you first posted and only found out about his being off yesterday.

They have a file that will do the fix automatically that they will pass onto we 3 mods  and we will e-mail that to posters here who we think would benefit. Problem is still no file given out so I am harassing the head tech to get this sorted.

Please wait a day or so I am doing all I can.

Re: Firewall keeps turning off

I am no expert but I too had this problem (posted in this thread earlier but no tech followed up) and felt like McAfee wanted me to figure it out myself.  I tried various suggestions from this sight and eventually uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version from McAfee and I no longer am having problems.  Hope this helps someone!

Re: Firewall keeps turning off

Hi Peacekeeper!

I'm really banging my head against a brickwall to try to get this sorted! Is it possible to get one of the tech guys to PM me? Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

I would really, really appreciate it!

Re: Firewall keeps turning off

As I said Karthiks is far from well I have tried to get his boss to popin of another high level support person but no good so far. It will happen by they need to reorganise staff I feel.

Give it another day if a reinstall (full) with also running

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/Mcpreinstall.exe

and then reinstall from your account

The correct uninstall method

Re: Firewall keeps turning off

Hi Peacekeeper, I have the same issue -> Windows 7, no base filtering engine service or windows firewall service present.  Could you please email me the file fix when it is available?

Re: Firewall keeps turning off

Hi. I am new here. I have a virus which constantly tells me my firewall is off. I turn it on and it says it's on, for a while. However, if I click on the Security Center Home where it says it is on, and go to settings, it is off. The Techs tried Stinger and ComboFix doesn't work on Windows 8. I installed Malwarebytes myself, and ran a scan, it found two objects which I deleted. I rebooted, but same firewall off problem. I tried the advice of going to registry and making sure firewall had a "2" in the box, but it was there. I don't know what else to do. HELP!

Re: Firewall keeps turning off

If a virus is doing this fixing the services might not help it would just be taken off again.

When I get the file I will go though all of the posters here and have them try it,  I am still waiting nothing more I can do pity Kartkiks became ill he was clearing these up well.

Re: Firewall keeps turning off

For the last one week my firewall goes off at or around 4:30 PM.  I do not know why and inspite of the total protection I have with Mcafee it is ironical to have this happen.

Re: Firewall keeps turning off

Strange the time issue. Open serrvice.msc in the run command and tell me if base filtering service and windows firewall services are running and automatic.

This on your PC sounds as if you have something re malware active.  Scan with some of these

McAfee Communities: Anti-Spyware/Malware & Hijacker Tools

with stinger and getsusp add your email in the preferences if you can
