When my computer is in the process of starting the McAfee firewall asks me if I want to allow the program fwdupdate.exe to access the internet. Every time. I keep on giving permission, but I'm tired of this. It's irksome enough to deal with windows 10 and its refusal to bypass sign in, so I went to fix this issue. I went to the firewall, browsed for the program, clicked on it to add to the list of programs which have permission. Up comes a screen saying the program already has permission! I found it in the list of permissible programs.
fwdupdate.exe belongs to HP, has to do with updating my computer. Howcome McAfee firewall keeps asking for permission for a program which already has permission, and how do I stop this?
The laptop runs Windows 10 home. I have McAfee Security Suite.

I can only assume that it needs an Admin's permission each time.'
In SecurityCenter . Web and Email Protection - Firewall - Internet Connections for Programs is it listed and OK there?
Try toggling Netguard on and off to see if that makes a difference (inside that section - use Edit button).
As I say I'm only assuming but it may be best for you to call Technical Support, it's free of charge: Contact Support

Another thought, is there any need for that to run at every startup or could you run it manually from time to time?

The fwupdate.exe is a program from the laptop manufacturer, HP. I originally found it just where you said, so it's had permission all along. I will try toggling Netguard on and off the next time I restart it. I'll also see about letting McAfee handling the updates for the firmware. It's been doing a good job of handling all the other updates, though I've had a couple drivers which needed updating and hadn't been caught by McAfee. If none of these do the trick I'll call customer support. Thanks for your help 🙂
OK, good luck 😉
