The level I asked for help is already higher up so ask them to take it higher when they enxt contact you, if there still is no solution. Obviously the developers added or removed something, or tightened up something that was already there, to the detriment of you programme. That's what they are trying to ascertain, I'm pretty sure of that. Often in these cases it's a case of one department talking to another and having to wait their turn for a response. Having worked in government & major corporations, I know how inefficient that is sometimes, and very frustrating to anyone such as yourself, who is watiting for an answer.
Ex-Brit,
A higher level of support contacted me Friday and what I found is that if I put the incomming IP address in for the computer that I want to connect to my network in the Network settings and set it to a home network then McAfee allows it through. Setting it to work does not. Seems that the level of scrutiny an IP gets is different between the two. It seems a pain that I have to input approx. 20 IP's and then adjust them everytime their ISP changes the dynamic IP address they give their customers. McAfee used to just allow the program I'm using access through the firewall. They say it has to do with all this global hacking and that they don't want unknown IP addresses to connect to my computer. I agree with that but there has to be a better way than just blocking them. They should be just like before and when something suspisious wants to connect it should alert me and allow me to make that choice. I know that they always think they know better than the average home user and that they are protecting us from ourselves as well but there just has to be a better way than blocking it and then not even telling me about it.
Maybe things will change with later versions of the software. It would seem to me that a popup asking if you want to allow a certain IP might suffice. You could suggest an idea here: https://community.mcafee.com/community/home/ideas
