FIREWALL WILL NOT TURN ON

I have tried everything and my McAfee firewall will not turn on, you click turn on and it immediatly turns off.

I have ran in safe mode, malware bytes and it did find something, removed it and restarted and still the same problem.

My computer was just purchased in AUGUST!! This is the third time we have had a problem with Mcafee-what is going on?!

From what I have read many others have had this problem!

PLEASE HELP!!!

Re: FIREWALL WILL NOT TURN ON

Did you try updating Malwarebytes and running it again?   Try also running it in Safe Mode.

If that doesn't remove the infection finally try running Hijackthis and posting its log on one of the following specialist forums for expert advice:

DOWNLOAD HIJACKTHIS

Do not post Hijackthis logs here, we can't help you with those !

Post the logs at one of these specialist Forums:

Re: FIREWALL WILL NOT TURN ON

I have ran in safe mode, and fire wall still will not stay on, clicks off immediatly.  This obviously is an ongoing problem with all of the threads I have read about on here. Yet there is no solution. It is very frustraiting.

The job of Mcafee is to protect your computer

Re: FIREWALL WILL NOT TURN ON

Hi there,

In safe mode McAfee would be disabled and thats probably you are nt able to turn it ON . Can you please click on start > Control Panel > Action center and check whether Windows Firewall is turned ON of Off. If its turned Off can you try to turn that ON and us know the status.

Re: FIREWALL WILL NOT TURN ON

Hello nms,

are you using a Windows 7 - 64 Bit OS..? Chances are that you probably have an infection on the computer.  Open the system32 folder (c:\windows\system32) Open Run (Windows key + R on keyboard -  Type system32 and click on OK). Check whether you have a file called consrv in it. if you do, your computer is infected with a rootkit. DO NOT DIRECTLY DELETE THE FILE, DOING SO WILL CRASH THE COMPUTER.
