By spell it all out I meant explain it. So the explanation in the help file is no good?
I will ask a support person to post here.
Oh ... I see .. now I understand.
I've read the explanation online 2 times ... maybe I must read a few more times .. till I understand.
The problem is .. I've created a new XYZ-service with a FTP-port-7002 and a UDP-port-7012.
Than I saved it.
At the same time XYZ's communication with Internet turned from 300 units to 10 units .... it was no good.
I deleted the service. XYZ's communication increased ..
And I don't understand the reason.
I have asked a support person to help you here, soon I hope.
Hello
This is my question to technical support:
How to configure the McAfee's Firewall so that a program named XYZ.exe gets a free (not blocked) access to a FTP-port (7002) and to a UDP-port (7012).
I've configured the router to forward both ports to my Dell computer.
What must I do in Windows-7 to McAfee's Firewall?
And what does McAfee's Firewall do concerning XYZ.exe?
I appreciate when I get a written tutorial concerning this well-known case/problem.
Thank you.
There's nothing available in writing but as you are still waiting for someone from Technical Support to post here have you tried contacting them again? It's free after all.
Hello hlk123,
Ex Brit is correct we don't have a downloadable user guide. That said I don't think a user guide would help in this case.
Could you define what you would like to do, I have read the post completely yet I still don't understand what you want.
As for setting up an application through the firewall we have and FAQ, see below. Keep in mind that you only need to open ports for applications on your system that others need to connect to. If all you want to do is connect application on your computer to other systems an application rule should allow the connection

@mrepuski
Thank you for the pointer to a ToDoList.
My "problem" is easy to explain.
I've a Dell Laptop with Windows-7 Professional. On it is an active well-known program named eMule. It needs a FTP-port 7002 & an UDP-port 7012.
In my LAN is a router, which I've configured, that those port-pair are forwarded to the Dell-Laptop.
Between eMule and the router is the McAfee Firewall (SecurityCenter).
What must I do/configure to this Firewall .. how (step by step) and why?
Do you understand my "problem" now?
regards
PS. yesterday I extended/paid the McAfee Service for 2 years more.
Mrepuski is not on duty at weekends and had you followed my suggestion in post #5 and contacted Technical Support during their opening hours you would probably have all this sorted out now. As it is you are most likely going to have to wait until Monday for an answer now unless a support person is patrolling these forums sometime over the weekend. There is hope I suppose 😉
Good luck.
