Getting the lock-up scam saying Defender has found a Trojan virus and I must call a support number to get help [ ~$300] to get the machine working again. I just turn it off and start again but I'm a McAfee subscriber and feel the protection I'm paying for should be blocking this stuff. Is there a special setting I need to turn on to stop this Defender scam from happening?

I had this windows defender pop up message again. This time, there was an audio addition. I rebooted and it has not popped up again. How do I make sure it has not hiding some where on my hard drive or any where else?
Update McAfee and do a full scan. Then try McAfee malware cleaner.
Note it also resets the browser settings to clear any fake browser popups
