Update to LiveSafe

Jump to solution

Not sure where to put this, but maybe someone can help.

I received a couple of messages from "Windows Security" that my virus protection was not up to date and that there was a McAfee update waiting.

Went to the McAfee page and it does appear that there has been a recent update, and I think that I have loaded it?

Comments and questions:

Why no message from McAfee to advise that there was an update waiting and clear instructions on how to install it?

After my "update (?)" I found my virus scan setting had reverted to the default of once per month instead of once per day.

I can manually remove trackers, but can't find a way to set a schedule for this to be done daily automatically.

I'd like some comment and a solution to the tracking schedule please.

@cyberdude I certainly do. My update must have taken place around 6th June because no scheduled virus scans took place after that. I'm in Australia, if that makes any difference.

I really do think that McAfee should have advised all subscribers by email of the updates and of the webpage you kindly referred me to. How else am I supposed to find out? Osmosis?

Re: Update to LiveSafe

Hi @jw1739

Greetings from McAfee!!!

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. McAfee will automatically perform updates in the backend. Also, McAfee stops while updating then we need to manually install updates.

Comments and questions:

Why no message from McAfee to advise that there was an update waiting and clear instructions on how to install it? McAfee will send notification to update from the icon in task bar. Alternatively, McAfee will update automatically in order to keep your devices secured from threats.

After my "update (?)" I found my virus scan setting had reverted to the default of once per month instead of once per day. Since McAfee updated to latest version from older version settings will be changed to enhance user experience. Also its an one time setting process to keep your default settings[User can change it].

I can manually remove trackers, but can't find a way to set a schedule for this to be done daily automatically. Those features are removed in latest version for soft and smooth device performance

Alternatively, you can reach McAfee consumer support for any queries.

Hello,

It is not stated that parental controls are no longer part of the Total Protection offer, whereas before it is....
