Does McAfee hack potential customers?

I purchased a new laptop recently.   Windows 11 S mode, which means 3rd party software doesn't install.

A few days later a charge from McAfee shows up on my credit card.  I have not bought a McAfee product in years.   My current credit card was not in my billfold at that time.

My credit card company killed the charge, which was actually submitted twice by McAfee.  They said McAfee hacked me and issued me a new card, which has meant a lot of work changing bill payment information.

A few companies have sent me 'late' notices because my automatic payments were rejected due to the card change.

Today, 30 days after the hacking, McAfee sent me a notice telling me my 30 day trial subscription was expiring and offering to renew it without interruption.

It takes some gigantic kahunies to hack someone, then make a 2nd try after getting stopped.

I lose all faith in computer security when a software security company is the villain.
