Can a Virus on PC modify bookmarks to malicious websites

I recently had my Identity stolen and I am paranoid. Windows 11, Chrome,  McAfee LiveSafe 5 installed.

Is it possible that a perpetrator could infiltrate My PC, possibly by my iPone that I sometimes  sync  and change a Bookmark? I clicked on one of my  bookmarks for a login page  were the password is stored with Google Password manager. The page that came up after the login didn't look right and I closed Chrome. After some time I tried this page again and was redirected to the Scam site of Windows Defender asking to call the scam phone number. I shutdown the PC and after doing this twice the Scam site was gone. The McAfee Malware Cleaner cleaned up 54 registry entries.

Any advise or explanation to my issue would be appreciated.

Also my iPhone  is running McAfee LifeSafe 5 but I can never see any scan results on the phone?
