It does seem to be working as it should now. Although I did delete the account that used the non-standard port, it appears that re-installing it may have been the fix as I didn't change any of the configuration settings.

Probably lets leave things as it is for a while and see how it proceeds to work, after which you may try to reconfigure those email address which do not fall under the normal ports.
