can't get McAfee to reinstall after reseting computer to factory settings.

I had to reset my computer to factory settings but am unable to reinstall McAfee. I purchased the license that protects 3 computers and it still says I am protecting 2 even though I don't have McAfee on my desktop anymore (which is the one I had to reset) Can anyone help? None of the McAfee help topics or links are helping. Thanks!!

Hi,

After resetting the computer back to factory settings and in the process on installing mcafee, do you receive any error message ?

Also specify what is the operating system on the computer ?

What type of internet connection we use ?

All it says is there was an error installing...no other information. OP system is XP and using internet connection from my cable company.

Re: can't get McAfee to reinstall after reseting computer to factory settings.

Hi Mnkyprnces,

Can you please mention,

1 . What was the reason that you restored the computer to Factory settings ?

2 . Was McAfee present when you restored the Computer to Factory settings ?

3 . Is McAfee still present on the Computer after Restoring to Factory settings ?

If McAfee was preset while you performed system restore,

Please try to run the McAfee consumer removal tool ( MCPR ) from the link :

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

And try to Install.

See if you get the same problem

U could try doin the installation in Safe Mode .

Also have a look at if u have any third party applications installed.
