Your Mac is Secure is always grayed out on Toolbar

When I click on the Internet Security shield icon on my toolbar, the status message "Your Mac is Secure" is grayed out but when I open Internet Security, I'm told otherwise - the my Mac is "good to go". Is this normal behavior?

I had the same issue few months back. I did just a reinstall and it fixed the problem.
