Hi,
I'm trying to install McAfee Internet Security from my account. I have a subscription for three computers, trying to install the third one now. The two previous ones have not been any problem, but it was quite a while since they were installed (a year or so).
However, I'm getting an error message, exactly as described in this archived discussion: https://community.mcafee.com/message/145083?tstart=12
The computer is a HP Pavilion dm1 Notebook running Window 7 Home Premium 32-bit.
I'd appreciate any help, as the previously mentioned discussion did not lead anywhere.
Kind regards,
Asteberg

Hi Dinesh,
Thank you for your answer. After performing steps 1-3 I ran the installation file again, and it worked! I think that yesterday I might not have had IE as default browser (ran through Chrome) but using IE as default the installation completed successfully. Thanks again! 🙂
Kind regards,
Asteberg

I am just thinking. Why does IE needs to be your default browser if you have to troubleshoot something with McAfee? Is it really a must? Thanks in advance..
Hello tripodzid,
That’s an integral part of our troubleshooting , just because McAfee relies upon Internet explorer for its display settings and any issues with Internet explorer might cause issues with your McAfee security products .
Thanks,
