Question about McAfee. I am not tech savvy.

I got a warning from McAfee (which was already downloaded on my 2 week old computer) that my virus protection expires soon https://tweakbox.mobi/. It then proceeds to say that "700,000 new malwares identified in one single day!" As I said, my computer is very new and I don't think I could have acquired a virus already https://getappvalley.com/ . And I have been informed by my friends https://vlc.onl that McAfee is not the greatest antivirus software. Is this just a scare tactic by McAfee? I am not tech savvy and I haven't gotten any kind of of antivirus software yet.

hello,

did you buy a new computer ?

many new computers come with pre-installed mcafee on device. the popup you noticed is marketing of threats that are out there and antivirus is to recommend. 

normal you have a 30day trial period available but for that time of period you have to register. otherwise it is a few days only for trial time.

if mcafee is something  of your liking is up to you by using the trial period.

  • Safe Connect VPN:  You will receive free, unlimited access to our VPN wireless on supported devices. Users not on auto-renewal have access to 500 MB/month of bandwidth.

  • Eligibility: McAfee® Identity Monitoring Service Essentials is available within active McAfee Total Protection and McAfee LiveSafe subscriptions with identity monitoring for up to 10 unique emails. Phone number monitoring is enabled upon activation of Automatic Renewal. Not all identity monitoring elements are available in all countries. See Product Terms of Service for more information. 
  • Your subscription is subject to our License Agreement and Privacy Notice. Product features may be added, changed or removed during the subscription term. Some features may require registration and a valid ID number to activate. See System Requirements for additional information.
  • While McAfee Identity Monitoring Service provides you tools and resources to protect yourself from identity theft, no identity can be completely secure.

Consumer reporting agencies are required to investigate and respond to your dispute, but are not obligated to change or remove accurate information that is reported in compliance with applicable law.
