The information on my laptop's HD was unrecoverable. Bought a virgin HD now how do i install the Mcafee program on my new laptop's HD.

Just go to your account page: Antivirus Software and Internet Security For Your PC or Mac | McAfee and log in, then download and install from there.
There is a chance that it will state that you have used up your license allotment - this would be because the software was never uninstalled from the old drive.
If that's the case, contact Customer Service by phone or online chat, it's free of charge see the link below. They will free up the license if you explain the situation.

Depending on your account setup it may be possible just to click "Reinstall" on the computer shown there on the account page.
But as I said, any problems can be dealt with by Customer Service (not Technical Support in this particular instance).
Services and Support for Home and Office should be able to provide assistance should you need help.
