Hello.
I was sure that I posted this last night; however, I cannot find the post anywhere!
McAfee Version: Internet security 11.0 for 'SKy' customers.
How do I Temporarily Disable Mcafee to Restore Windows 7 please? I have looked and looked online for help.
I am having trouble with system restore; so, can anyone also point me to a McAfee removeal tool if there is one please?
Thanks.
Solved! Go to Solution.
You shouldn't have to disable anything to use System Restore as McAfee doesn't block Windows processes unless of course they are infected.
However you can either disable or remove completely.
To disable VirusScan
Double-click the taskbar icon to open SecurityCenter
Click Virus and Spyware Protection
Click Real-Time Scanning
Turn off and tell it for how long you wish it to remain that way.
You can do the same for Personal Firewall under the Web and Email Protection drawer on the main screen.
To uninstall the product simply go to Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall a Program and remove it there and if necessary use the MCPR cleanup tool listed under Useful Links at the top of this page.
A reboot will be required to complete the process.

Thank you, very much.
I had this problem with Norton; so, I moved to McAfee 2 months ago and I had no trouble with system restoring using McAfeee; I was really pleased!
Now, I am getting the old error messages during system restore that I received using Norton: 0x80070570 and then 0x800070002.
Real pain! This is my last term at uni and I just cannot afford any system issues.
Thanks again for your help. I shall mark as answered.

PS/. The MCPR link does not work - page not found!
When you removed Norton I assumed you used their removal tool too?
System Restore errors can happen for a number of reasons but the main one is use of Registry Optimizers/Cleaners, steer clear of them and if you've been using one see if it has a restore button.
The MCPR link works for me OK, must be your cache needing refreshing or something like that.

or here is the direct download link:
Download and run MCPR.exe:
Thank you, again.
For ref: The only registry tool that I have ever used is the Norton Registry cleaner built into Norton 360 and the registry clean in McAfee Quick Clean. I never use any unlicenced software or any reg cleaners etc.
When I removed Norton my PC restored fine.
My PC restored fine the other week with McAfee on too.
I have made no changes except regularly cleaning the system using Quick Clean and Windows 7 file clean up from My Computer.
There are lots of event viewer errors too.
Thank you, again.
That's odd. May be a good idea to post on a good Windows 7 help forum. I can recommend this one: http://www.sevenforums.com/
