DMSetup.exe not a valid Win32 application error

Received the blue screen of death about 1 week ago and had to restore Windows XP from a disk.  Updated with service pack 3 and have recently installed Rapport.  I have now finally successfully uninstalled Rapport but now everytime I attempt to reinstall McAfee "McAfee Total Protection" via the DMSetup.exe I get the above error... DMSetup.exe not a valid Win32 application.

If I attempt to load any .exe I get this error and if I attempt to load the McAfee security centre all I get is a white screen and nothing.  So I am unable to run any scans either.

Would appreciate any feedback on this as I am now completely lost and afraid I'll download some other software that will kill my PC.
