I clicked download from 'My Account', and followed all the instructions. Accecpted the User Agreement, clicked Run, then the message appears "Download Cannot Continue: Your McAfee software download cannot continue because either there's a problm with your Internet connection or the McAfee download server is unavailable. To fix this, make sure your PC is connected to the Internet or wait for a few moments for the server to become available, then try again.
I am on the Internet,
I have tried over and over several times over the last 4 hours.
I have run the pre-installation tool,
I have run the product removal tool,
I have removed another vendor's product.
My PC is vulnerable, and I've paid for this product. This is an unacceptable situation. What must I do to get this product installed?
I'm using Windows Vista x64 edition, with all current SPs and updates.

May I know what is the type of your internet connection ? (wired/wireless)
If wired , please restart the computer and start tapping the F8 key.
From the advanced boot option menu, select safe mnode with networking and try installing .
Please let me know if you come across any issues along with a screen shot.

Had a bit of difficulty along the way as the installation detected some leftover Norton files which were apparently not removed by the uninstall I performed yesterday. Fortunately the error had a link to an article after downloading a Norton Removal Utility which I used to remove those files. They were embedded pretty deep, it took 3 restarts of the system before the McAfee product was on the machine.

If you have a message "Cannot Install - Download Cannot Continue' check your Internet explorer settigns.Under tools-conections-lan settigns see if you have "Detect automatic Settigns" if checked uncheck it clear all temp files and MFE folders and try again.

Please let me know certain information about the computer such as;
What is the operating system of the computer ? (win xp/vista/7)
How is the computer currently connected to internet ?
Check if you have installed any other security softwares under the control panel – add/remove section ?
Please provide me with the exact error message that we receive during the download , f possible attach a screenshot for the same.

What could also be the problem is your Windows Installer might not working properly i have had this problem on other computers before.... or you might not have the C++ files on your computer because you havnt updated your computer. Or you might not have the latest service pack but im guessing your Windows installer isnt working... If thats the case then contact microsoft but hurry if your an XP because there cutting off there service in July!
