Re: Thunderbird 3 and McAfee spam

Jump to solution

I hear you  TB was 1.8% last year so it is getting more popular and it was included in the GUI's anti spam settings. The issue was when it was fixed in Sept Oct it had to be added to a patch that fixed other things and there the problem was getting it in a patch. I will pass this onto a customer service manager so maybe he can stop this happening next time.

At least it is fixed now.

Now i've got the required softwareversions with the last update. After the requested reboot the anti-spam icon in the toolbar of tb disappeared and neither disabling/enabling anti-spam nor disabling/anabling tb as client brought the anti-spam icon back into the tb toolbar.

What went wrong?

mcgiga,

You have to put the icon on the toolbar yourself: right click on the toolbar >> Customize >> you "should" have the McAfee AntiSpam icon available ... drag it to the toolbar. Done.

McAfee updated to 141 and it works now. One year!!! Not a satisfied cutomer at all.

Ugraded one of my PCs to TB 3.1 (it was waiting until the problem solved). No way to get the new icon, even with the new .141 version it doesn't work.

Enabled/disabled tooldbar on McAfee, regserv32 tbirdins.dll, tried everything I know ...

Any idea?

1. Close TB
2. (WinXP)Click Start, Run, type CMD, and press enter.
(Vista/Win7) you must open a command prompt with  administrator privileges. Click Start, Find, type CMD, right-click  Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.

3. Type CD %ProgramFiles%\McAfee\MSK (For Vista/Win7 64-bit, use CD %programfiles(x86)%\McAfee\MSK) and press ENTER.
4. Type REGSVR32 tbirdins.dll and press ENTER.
5. Open TB

Try above steps and see if the toolbar appears.

Is the mail being filtered?

check the addon window to see if Anti-Spam is installed.(see ext.png)

if it is, then double check the toolbar customization window and see if mcafee icon is hiding there.

[View] -> [Toolbars] -> [Customize]

(see toolbar.png)

no extension installed.

searched for an *.xpi-file in the complete mcafee-directory. there is none.

i think the content of the file being attached could be helpful.
