Anti spam web filtering rules

I'm using Mcafee Total Protection version 16.0, (anti spam V17.8) and I want to setup webmail filtering rules for my IMAP e-mail account..  But I can't make it work.  Mcaffee keeps coming back with the message that the password or e-mail address is not correct.

My user name is the same as my e-mail address and has a special character '@'.  Though in the help it is stated that:

User name (Your user name for this webmail account should use a combination of only letters [A-Z or a-z] or numbers. Don't include special characters.)

Is this the reason why I can't make the web filter work?

If yes, is Mcafee working on this problem.  I'm sure I'm not the only one where the user name is the e-mail address.

If no, how do I make this web filter work?
