pay for mcafee to load it on computer

Can anybody tell me why when you buy a new Mcafee and try to install it you cannot. Then someone from Mcafee phones you up and takes over your computer then says you have loads of issues within my computer that is why it wont load. But if you pay £40 they will fix it over the net. Or for £70 they will get a tec to come around your house and fix it. So I phoned the helpline to ask why  they, download it in 5min's for nothing? Is there some sort of scam going on under the nose of Mcafee?

Re: pay for mcafee to load it on computer

First of all no-one from the genuine McAfee company would call you, unless you asked them to and they NEVER do house calls.  If you did not invite them in then I suspect you've been scammed by a con artist who now has access to your computer and is possibly stealing from you.

I strongly recommend that you uninstall anything that looks unfamiliar in Control Panel > Programs and Features, including McAfee if you bought it from a non-registered online retailer, and change all your passwords for anything installed thereon.

You may even need to cancel any credit cards stored oin your computer

Run a Farbar analysis and post the results as recommended near the bottom of this document:

Genuine McAfee support is free of charge unless one wants their special support services and/or virus removal service.

As a footnote I also noticed that you used an email address as a user name here.   That means spambots can pick it up easily as it's exposed in public.

If you wish to change it to something like gwebb46 or similar, please start a discussion here:    and ask the Forum Administrator to do that for you.

I can also assure that McAfee will (NEVER)  contact you, unless you have called them and asked for a *Service Request* in which you had to escalate your case to a higher Tier 2.5 Technician. Even then you would never receive any *House Call*,if you will.

Furthermore McAfee Support is (Free) When you have purchased and obtain a Active Subscription.

Could you kindly contact the actual McAfee Technical Support using that link Ex_Brit inserted. Select Country and get Phone number. Ask for Customer Service, and explain your situation/concerns. Also do you have your *Service Request Number* available from when you had your session?

Also could you provide the Affld number listed with your software?
