Upgrade from Livesafe to McAfee + Advanced at renewal date

Jump to solution

I currently have McAfee Livesafe which is due to expire on 19th May. Auto Renewal is on, so it will obviously renew about a month before then. Since I purchased Livesafe last year, I have made several attempts to set up shared subscriptions, so that I can protect the household PC (shared between my wife and me), and also to have it downloaded to our individual smartphones. I have never succeeded in setting up shared subscriptions, despite following the instructions and advice that I have received through the Community Forum, often from McAfee Moderators. The issue appears to be that although my wife and I share the PC, we each have our own individual email accounts, as well as our own smartphones. All I have ever managed to achieve in the past, is to download Livesafe to each mobile phone (as well as to the PC), but because there has not been any way to register my wife's email address, she just received the same notifications that I received on her phone, and her personal email account remained unprotected. This has caused a great deal of anxiety, and frustration, and with the renewal of Livesafe coming up in the next couple of months, I had reluctantly considered switching to a different internet security provider, with a Customer Services platform that is easier to access than McAfee. However, whilst searching for other products, I came across McAfee Family Plans. On the face of it, these seem to offer what I have been looking for, and I didn't even know that Family Plans existed, as a separate thing from Individual Plans. My first question therefore is: am I correct in my assumption that a Family Plan (I am considering McAfee + Advanced Family Plan) will allow me to register my email address, and my wife's email address, with separate log-in credentials on the same Windows PC, and that we can download these separate profiles to our individual Android smartphones? My second question is: how do I upgrade to a Family Plan (either at renewal or just before) to effect a seamless transfer? When I upgraded from McAfee 3-user Internet Security to Livesafe last year, I turned off the auto renewal a couple of months before the renewal date, and then purchased the Livesafe a couple of days before the 3-user Internet Security expired. I'm not sure that this was a very good way of doing it, but I can't see any obvious "upgrade" link on my current Livesafe account. I'm sorry this is such a long complicated question, but I would appreciate any help that anyone can offer with this.
