Unwanted System Tray Notifications

Is there a way to disable the system tray notifications? I mostly get popups with offers for McAfee addon software or other McAfee products, they're mostly spam . I cannot find anything under settings

Thank you"

Re: Unwanted System Tray Notifications

Hi @SPnoza13,

We regret for the inconvenience!

These pop ups are information alerts. These alerts may be limited by using the following settings.

  • Disable information alerts in McAfee (Open McAfee >> Settings >> General Settings >> Information alerts)
  • Disable Sites notification on your browser (Open Browser >> Settings >> Security and Privacy >> Site Settings >> Notifications)

Alternatively, You can always contact the chat support using below link for immediate assistance.

Re: Unwanted System Tray Notifications

I have the same problem.  The "Information Alerts" no longer have the option to turn them off.  Also, these are system tray pop-ups, not browser pop-ups... so browser settings do not affect these.

Please give us a solution that will stop these system tray pop ups.  They are very intrusive.  They  appear on top of whatever application I am working on, at random times.  And almostg always they are nothing more than McAfee trying to upsell additional products (and leads me to wonder why the product I subscribe to is called "Total Protection", if I need these other add-ons?)

Re: Unwanted System Tray Notifications

I don't see the option to disable notifications in "information alerts" in "General settings".

This is very annoying! Rethinking about my Mcafee subscription...

Re: Unwanted System Tray Notifications

I notice that the McAfee rep just gives you the same reply again, which as you point out, does not work. I believe they know this. I have to conclude this is a purposeful marketing strategy, forcing the customer to endure pop-ups that are upsells for additional products. I am otherwise happy with the product, but this practice is so egregious, I intend to end my subscription too.

Same here, I am stopping my subscription as well.
